Cecilia Costello Obituary



COSTELLO, CECILIA, "CEIL", 98 years young passed away surrounded by family and loved ones on Sunday, November 18, 2007. Born September 2, 1909, and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., Ms. Costello excelled in clothing design and was a supervisor with Simplicity Pattern Company until her retirement at age 65. She worked hand-in-hand with the Icons of the fashion world of her day. Ms. Costello moved to Smithville in 2000. She was an avid reader, a dog lover, and lover of the arts. Ms. Costello was predeceased by her parents Luigi and Rose DeCrescenzo, her brother Paul DeCrescenzo and her sister Lucy. She leaves behind her niece & nephew Margaret and William Miller Brooklyn, N.Y., great nephews Paul Interlandi and John Interlandi and their respective families, her special friends Ceil and Ray Butterworth, Florida, Marge, her home care aid, Suellen and Jim Cavallo, Smithville, and the love of her life, her shihtzu Buttons, over whose little body the sun rose and set. Funeral arrangements are set for a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, November 23rd at St. Simon and St. Jude Roman Catholic Church in Staten Island, N.Y. and burial in Calvary Cemetery, Queens, N.Y. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date at Elizabeth Seton Roman Catholic Church, Absecon .
