Marija Rehr Obituary



REHR, MARIJA, (nee SERUGA) 81 - of Ventnor City, passed away suddenly at her residence on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2007. Born in Zagreb, Croatia (formerly known as Yugoslavia) on May 26, 1926. She came to the United States via the ship "Fair Hope", arriving at Tampa, Florida on June 24, 1950 and became a naturalized citizen of the United States in November of 1955. After moving to the Atlantic City area, she met the late Francis Edward Rehr, a long-time employee of the Atlantic City Electric Company, in November of 1961.They were married in Ventnor City on August 7, 1963. Mrs. Rehr was employed as a waitress by the Atlantic Yachting Company (Captain Starn's in the inlet) for 28 years and by Caesar's Boardwalk Regency (Caesar's Hotel-Casino) from 1979 until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of Local #54, H.E.R.E.I.U. Mrs. Rehr was a very active and generous and determined lady who enjoyed spending time with her long-time friend, May Thai Quasch and May's family. She also took great pleasure in her backyard which was recently re-landscaped. She is survived by her sisters Andela Vugrinec and Terezija Kovac of Zagreb, Croatia and Anne Marie Belaj of Paris, France; her brother Tomislav Seruga of Korcula, Crotia; and stepson Thomas Rehr of Absecon. The Funeral Mass for Marija Seruga Rehr will be Celebrated 10:00am Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, California and Atlantic Avenues. Friends may call Thursday morning from 9:00am at the Church. Rite of Committal will be offered at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing following Mass. Arrangements by the Gormley Funeral Home LLC.
