Shea Crawford Obituary

Shea Smiley Crawford passed away at his residence on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sampson Crawford Jr. and Nancy Knight Crawford.

He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Linda Mayes Crawford; stepchildren, Anthony Shawn Chavis and wife, Lynn, of Raeford, N.C., Elizabeth Wren Chavis of Shannon, N.C. and Robin Leon Chavis II of Dinwiddie, Va.; grandchildren, Shawn Chavis II of Raeford, N.C., and Shae and Kameron Chavis of Shannon, N.C.; sister, Karen C. Carmines and husband, Edward of Midlothian, Va.; brother-in-law Robert A. Mayes and wife Donna of Lanexa, Va.,; niece, Kristin M. Carmines of Winston-Salem, N.C.; numerous uncles, aunts and cousins living in North and South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky and West Virginia; best buddies, Eddie Beverly of Harrisburg, N.C., Barry Salzer of Raeford, N.C. and Wesley Bracey of Red Springs, N.C., and last but not least his "boys," Smiley, Choco and Dino.

Shea worked for many years with his father in the timber business in Raeford, N.C. and in numerous other positions during his lifetime.

Visitation will be held at the residence in Dinwiddie, Va. between 3 and 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008. A private burial will be held at a later date at Hatteras, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity or the American Cancer Society. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service where condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.

Shea and I were like brothers. Best friends since the 3rd grade. The many adventures we had over all the years have left me with so many great memories.
