Marion Flowers Obituary

Marion Deloris Hill Flowers, 51, entered into eternal rest at her residence, 220 N. 16th Ave., Hopewell, Va., on Monday, Sept. 8, 2008.

She was born Feb. 12, 1957, to McKinley Lewis and the late Elsie Hill Lewis of Disputanta, Va.

In her early years, she attended N.B. Clements High School in Prince George County Public School System for a number of years.

She was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, Surry County, Va., where she was a member of the Inspirational Choir.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted husband, Tyrone L. Flowers; two sons, Thomas J. Hill and Temond M. Hill; daughter, Shanta A. Hill, all of Hopewell, Va.; a loving father, McKinley Lewis of Prince George, Va.; six grandchildren, Zykeliyha, Janila, Tevion, Ashaunay, Abriyana and Temond; sister, Tonya Gillis (Orlanzo); brother, Stephon Lewis (Maria) of Prince George, Va.; aunts, Mary Taylor (Richard), Gloria Taylor (Ernest), Estelle Lewis of Prince George, Va., Barbara Mayes (Harold) of Colonial Heights, Va., Ruby Burgess of Waverly, Va., Shirley Newby (Columbus) of Surry, Va.; uncles, Douglas Hill (LaCora), James Hill (Rosyln), John H. Hill, Francele Hill, John and Raymond Hill, all of Prince George, Va., John Wesley Lewis of Germany and a special uncle, Alexander Allen of Hopewell, Va.; four sisters-in-law, Lula Barnes (James), Barbara Jones (Clifford), Jacqueline Parson (Jerry), Regina Williamson (Andre), all of Waverly, Va.; brother-in-law, John Flowers (Victoria) of New Castle, Del.; a special goddaughter, Danille Pettaway; two godsons, Terrance Flowers and Jeffery Hill; long life devoted friends, Hester Allen, Barbara Jones and Rosa Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 2512 Carsley Road, Surry, Va., with the Rev. Douglas F. Adams officiating. Interment will be in Dinwiddie Memorial Park. The remains will lie in state at the church on Friday from 11:45 a.m. until the hour of service. Relatives will assemble at the residence, 220 N. 16th Ave., Hopewell, at 11 a.m.

My heart goes out to all of Marion's family, as we go back many years. I saw Marion (after many years) about 3 months ago and remarked to her how great she looked. We can only take comfort in Knowing that God knows best. I love you all, and I pray for your peace and comfort.
