Preston Parker Obituary

Deacon Preston Parker Sr., formerly of 911 Elm St., Hopewell, departed this life Tuesday, Oct. 21, at John Randolph Medical Center.

He was the son of the late Lewis and Georgina Jones Parker, and widower of Mrs. Essie Lee Parker. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward Parker, and a sister, Gracie Parker Williams. Deacon Parker was a retired employee of 32 years at Hercules Inc. and a long-time member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Preston Parker Jr. and Willie L. Carr (Rebecca); five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon Friday, Oct. 24, at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Hopewell, with the Rev. William Roberts officiating. The interment will be held at Mount Sinai Community Cemetery, Prince George.
