Delia Briggs Obituary

At sunset on Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, God in his infinite wisdom called from labor to rest out of the beautiful garden of prayer Deaconess Delia Macklin Briggs, 85, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg.

She was a previous member of the Prince George Voters League, the Prince George Assembly and the 4th Congressional District Voters League and volunteer at Dinnwiddie Middle School. She retired as a domestic worker and lived a blessed and full life.

I was very saddened to hear about your Mother's passing. She was someone that really lived every day to the fullest. Her smile always warmed my heart and inspired my soul. While I know that words are only a small gesture of support, I want you to know that her spirit has touched many people's lives as it has mine. Delorise and I will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

God knows how much we can bear and will give us the strength to go on even in our times of grief and in our darkest hours. She has gone to be with Him who loved her first and with the knowledge that she will see you again. Be comforted in this knowlege and rely on the power of your faith and the love of friends and family who continue to pray for you daily.

Brenda and Gregory...God Knows

You have my deepest sympathy, but it really doesn't help.

Your grief goes beyond what words can express.

There's nothing anyone can say, and nothing we can do to heal your broken heart or take away your pain.

Let God take you both in His arms
and cover you with His love.

He knows the depth of your grief
and only He can give you peace.

He knows it will take time for your heart to heal, and your loved one has a place that no one else can fill.

If there's any comfort let it be in this,
your loved one is with Jesus,
in a home that's filled with bliss.

There are no tears in Heaven,
no more heartache and no pain,
only love and happiness for all eternity.

You must go on living and
do the best you can,
then when Jesus calls your name
you will be with her again.

...I know the pain of losing a MOTHER for my heart is still empty and cries out for mine this day..
The tears will ease up..
and comfort will expand..
Just cling to each other because it is the nights that will be the hardest when silence sets in..
Be at PEACE

When I heard the news that Aunt Delia had passed. I my mother, Corrine. Aunt Delia was the last connection I had with her. Aunt Delia treated us like we were her own children after my mom died. I was happy to talk to her last week on the phone. I am blessed to have know my Aunt. You are blessed to have kept her with you in your life. I know that she has been a treasure. I will be at the funeral services, and I will do anything for you that you need.

We were so sorry to hear of your loss. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help at this time. You will always live in our hearts and prayers

There is nothing I can do,
to bring her back
There are no words that I can say,
that can replace the words you long to hear

There is not another soul I can introduce you to that will ever replace her
and there is no love I can offer that will ever replace the love you shared
I can not promise your broken heart will ever be complete
I will not lie and tell you he will come back
She never really left
I will not deny he is in a better place
She is waiting to greet you someday
" She is like the wind. You can not see her...but you will always feel her."
