Paul Gregory Obituary

On Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, our hearts were saddened by the passing of our loved one, Paul B. Gregory Sr., affectionately known as "Big Bro."

Mr. Paul B. Gregory, of 122 Kentucky Ave., Petersburg, Va., entered eternal rest at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va.

He celebrated 55 years of marriage to the late Pinkie Harrison Gregory. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Rosa Gregory; four brothers, Joseph, Jacob, William and Peter Gregory; three sisters, Virgie Burrow, Annie Goodwyn and Rachel Neverson; one son, Roy P. Gregory; and daughter-in-law, Julia Gregory; one granddaughter, Fredericka Joy Prather.

Paul accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Little Mount Baptist Church.

Paul was a self-starter, who worked many careers during his lifetime. He retired from Greenbank Construction Co. as a pipefitter, carpenter and concrete finisher. He also worked for Petersburg Area Transit for a number of years after his retirement. In his spare time, he was a barber for many family and friends in the community. He also enjoyed fishing with his sons, grandsons and nephews.

In 2005, Paul was honored by Virginia State University Alumni Association with the first annual Solomon's Wisdom Award.

He leaves to cherish his memory six children, James Gregory (Edith), Minister Ann G. Neverson (Claude Sr.), Deloris G. Jordan (Starrier), Paul B. Gregory (Samantha), all of Petersburg, Ralph A. Gregory (Alonda) of Chester, Va., Randy J. Gregory (Ophelia) of Detroit; 19 grandchildren, Sherri Jordan, Karen Graves (Vernon), Claude Jr. (Allison), Pamela Jordan-Farr (Tariq), Michael Gregory (Stacey), Christian Graves, Katrina Gregory, Keith Gregory, Gregory Neverson, Kenya Jordan-Courtney (Nigel), Ryan Williams, Mark Hall, Cheryl Williams (Walter), Darlene Bates (Clinton), Shaunda Cobb, LaWanda Fuller (Bernard), Alphonso Mason, Alicia Gregory and Ralph Gregory Jr.; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; three sisters, Rebecca Harrison, Sarah Griffin (Ward Sr.) and Lejest Williamson; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert Harrison (Alvera), Frances Dillard, Bessie Burrow (Robert Sr.), Louise Burrow, Edith Gregory, Josephine Gregory and Florence Thomas; and many loving and devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

We would like to thank the staff of Adult Healthcare Solutions, specifically Administrator Florence Goodwyn and caretakers Mary Johnson and Calvin Young. Also, we appreciate the services rendered by doctors, nurses and staff on duty (2nd floor east and ICU) at Southside Regional Medical Center on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name (Paul B. Gregory Sr.) to VSU Endowed Scholarship Foundation, P.O. BOX 9292, Petersburg, VA 23806.

Davis Jr., pastor of Little Mount Baptist Church, will eulogize. Interment will be in Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery, Petersburg.
