Keith Owens Obituary

Mr. Keith L. Owens, 50, was called home suddenly to be with the Lord, Dec. 3, 2008, at his residence, 2154 N. Percy St., Philadelphia, Pa.

He was the oldest son of Clifton and Lorine Owens of Stony Creek, Va.

He was born Feb. 19, 1958, in Philadelphia, but in 1973, he moved to Stony Creek, Va., with his family.

He was baptized and became a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Sussex, Va., and was one of the first junior ushers there. He later changed his membership to Galilee Baptist Church in Stony Creek, Va.

He was a 1976 graduate of Sussex Central High School, after which he moved back to Philadelphia, and met and married his wife, Paula, the love of his life for 20 plus years.

He worked as a chef for the "Fisherman's Restaurant" for many years before his health began to decline. He was a good cook and was best known for his "Philly Barbeque Sauce," which we all tried to copy. Baby back ribs and chicken were his specialties.

He was a "people person" and loved to crack jokes and make everyone laugh. He will be truly missed by his family, friends, neighobrs and all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Paula; daughters, Quiana and Monique; one son, Little Keith; stepson, Greg; grandson, Derrick II; and granddaughter, Mykeema Sanders, all of Philadelphia; mother and father, Lorine and Clifton Owens; brothers, Demond and Ryan Owens, all of Virginia; mother-in-law, Anna Delbridge of New Jersey; five sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law, all of Philadelphia; two aunts; one uncle, all in Philadelphia; and two aunts in Virginia; devoted cousins, "Nick," Calvin Parham, Reuben Peel and Heidi Peel; and numerous cousins, friends and neighbors.

Funeral services for Mr. Owens will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, LTD, 2008 North Broad St., Philadelphia, Pa., (215) 763-5590.

Family and friends are asked to assemble at 9:30 a.m. at 5919 Nassau Road, Philadelphia, Pa., on the day of serivce.
