Mr. Woodrow Joseph Wilson, of 629 Warwick Village Drive, Apartment F, Richmond, Va. departed this life on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at McGuire Veterans Medical Center, Richmond, VA.
Woodrow was born Jan. 19, 1932, in Farmville, Va. He was the first born to the proud parents of Joseph and Loretta. In his late teens Woodrow moved to New York to join his mother. As a young man Woodrow was excited by the big city. It was there that he met Catherine Bell and she stole his heart. Woodrow and Catherine were married right away and began their journey in life together. Soon after they were married Woodrow was drafted into the Korean War. After serving a short time, he served a tour of duty in Germany. Woodrow was injured and had to return home.
Once back in New York, Woodrow and Catherine could begin their lives together. They both enjoyed all the excitement and night life New York had to offer. All their many friends would call them first to find what was happening for the evening.
Woodrow and Catherine had three sons, Woodrow Jr., Douglas and Curtis. They raised their children with pride and all the best life could offer.
Woodrow was employed with the U. S. Postal Service. He left the post office to work as a New York City Yellow Cab driver. Not happy there he left and became a New York City bus driver. After 30 years, Woodrow retired. He decided to leave the big city and return back to his home, Virginia. Back at home with his brother Thomas; Woodrow lived many happy years with family and friends. Near the end he needed home care and Ms. Betty took care of him.
Woodrow believed in living life to the fullest and enjoying himself. He would never let anyone stop him from doing what he wanted. He loved to travel.
