Adelean Lanier Obituary
A native of Sussex County, Va., Adelean Lanier, 72, was born on Dec. 27, 1935. She resided in the Petersburg, Va., area the majority of her life. She attended Peabody High School. She retired from Johnson Cleaners in Colonial Heights, Va.
Adelean Lanier was a member of Little Mount Baptist Church of Sussex County, Va., but was a Watch Care Member of Trinity Baptist Church, Petersburg, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Lanier Sr., and her parents, Joseph "Joe" and Daisy Whittaker.
She is survived by seven children, Gloria Taylor (Johnnie) of Prince George County, Va., Jonathan Lanier (Sheila), Franklin Lanier Jr. (Melissa), Celestine Walden (Jerome) and Sandra Lanier, all of Petersburg, Va., Ronald Lanier (Berdina) of Raleigh, N.C., and Fitzgerald Lanier (Laura) of California; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one nephew; one niece; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends, a very devoted friend, Pauline Moore.
A special, special thanks goes to Dr. Olumuyina Ojediran and staff and the staff of Southside Regional Medical Center of Transition, 4th floor.
A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at the chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va.; the Rev. Jeffrey L. Dodson Sr., pastor of Trinity Missionary Church of God In Christ, Petersburg, Va., officiating. The interment to follow at the Little Mount Baptist Church Cemetery, Disputanta, Va.

Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star,
