Carl Ingram Obituary

Mr. Carl Andrew Ingram was born on May 11, 1948 to the late Sylvester and Edith Ingram.

After a long illness, Carl humbled himself in the sight of the Lord to rest on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 in McGuire Veterans Medical Center, Richmond, Va.

He began his formal education in New Jersey in the Plainfield school system and graduated from Plainfield High School.

He was a member of the Morning Star Community Tabernacle Church in Linden, N.J. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served proudly in the Vietnam Era.

Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, he began a long career of 33 years with the Pathmark Foods chain which he retired from and re-located to Chesterfield, Va.

He met and married his adoring and dedicated wife, Cynthia.

He was an active member of Second Baptist Church Seniors Ministry where he helped with a number of tasks until his illness prevented him from continuing.

Carl loved to play cards and was known for his sense of humor.

He was a good man with a helpful nature and constantly had that "live life to the fullest" spirit.

He was a movie man, always willing to share his movies with you.

He also enjoyed listening to "oldies but goodies," especially music by the Temptations, and bowling with the Pathmark Bowling League at the Jersey Lanes.

Carl was predeceased by a brother, Charles Richardson, and twin sisters, Sylvia Quick and Gwendolyn Romley.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife, Cynthia; a daughter, Shirley Ann Ingram of Atlanta, Ga.; son, Carl Anthony "Tony" Ingram of Tustin, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Natasha Stone of New Jersey; a stepson, Gilbert Collins of New Jersey; three sisters, Delores Parham of Maryland, Shirley Reed and Edith Friday, both of New York; two brothers, Sylvester Ingram (Marion) and George Ingram, both of New Jersey; four grandchildren, Quinton, Mikayla, Alana and Saheia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, among them loyal friends, Keith Watkins of New Jersey and Mark Brewer of North Carolina.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 at the chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va. with the Rev. Dr. Johnnie Fleming, pastor of Second Baptist Church, Chester, Va., officiating.

The family will receive family and friends at the residence, 5411 Bell Meadow Road, Richmond, Va., and may be contacted by calling (804) 314-5815.
