Jack Riffe Obituary

Jack Donald Riffe, 73, of Petersburg, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, with his family by his side.

Jack was born in Crab Orchard, W.Va., the son of the late Cecil Owen Riffe and Mary Evelyn Riffe. He served in the Air Force for five years, stationed at Chelveston Air Force Base in England, where he met his lovely wife of 50 years, Anne. Jack worked at Fort Lee in the photo lab and DOIM Department for 40 years before retiring in 2003. He was a loving husband, father, friend and to his grandchildren, he was their "Big Daddy."

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Riffe; sister, Wanda Grant and brothers, Tommy and Owen Riffe.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Riffe; daughter, Debra Riffe and Victor Lavimodiere; son Alan Riffe and his wife, Beth; granddaughters, Kacy Hitchcock and Katie Riffe; brother, Teddy Riffe and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 804 W. Roslyn Road, Suite E, Colonial Heights, VA 23834 or to Southside Virginia Emergency Crew, P.O. Box 574, Petersburg, VA 23804. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.

MRS. RIFFE & FAMILY,
I WAS SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT JACK. MY MOM WORKED WITH HIM AT THE PHOTO LAB YEARS AGO, AND I KNEW LAURA BEFORE SHE DIED. I STILL REMEMBER HER FUNERAL. IT SEEMS LIKE IT WAS JUST YESTERDAY.
MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALL.
