Philip Mayer Obituary

Philip E. Mayer Jr., 72, of Petersburg, passed away on Friday, Dec. 12, 2008.

Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Philip E. Mayer Sr. and Helen White Mayer. He retired from NCR Inc. after 33 years of employment.

Philip was a loving husband and father who is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Louise G. Mayer; son, Daniel Philip Mayer and wife, Naomi; daughter, Debbie Mayer DeLong and husband, Steve; sister, Louise Mayer Harville and husband, Charles, and nieces and nephews.

He was an avid builder of electronics and mechanical projects, a member of the Mid-Atlantic RC Club, and an amateur radio operator (K4WQQ).

The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, from 6 to 8 pm. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at Southlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the local Red Cross. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
