Fenton Turner Jr.

Mr. Fenton Turner Jr., age 85, of ENN Trailor # 13, Waverly, was called home Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, after a brief period of illness.

Mr. Turner was born to the late Anna and Fenton Turner of Waverly. Fenton Turner was preceded in death by Geneva and Velma; two brothers, Calvin and Frankie. He joined Liberty Baptist Church at an early and attended until his declining health. He also was a member of the Young Social Club.

Fenton leaves to cherish his precious memories: his wife of 50 years, Grace Turner; six loving children, Dorothy Thomas, Mary Brook (Donald), Barbara (Ivory), all of Waverly, the Rev. Fenton Turner (Pearlie) of Hawaii, Fermon Turner of Hopewell, Edward Turner (Blankley) of Waco, Texas; three loving sisters, Jessie Wyche, Juanita Turner, both of Waverly, and Mary Tucker of Disputanta; two brothers, Horace Turner of Waverly and Robert Turner of Richmond; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Holmes of Surry and Mineva Turner of Waverly; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. among them 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Fenton will be missed by all who new him. The family would also like to thank Pearlie Turner, Rosa McCray, Hopewell Health Care Center, Waverly Heath Care Center, Hospice and the staff of John Randolph Medical Center for the wonderful job you all did for our father.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at Liberty Baptist Church, Waverly, with Dr. Cr. Alston officiating. The interment will be in the Waverly Cemetery. The family will assemble 12:15 p.m. at the residence on the day of service.
