Leathy Lyons Obituary
Mrs. Lyons was born March 29, 1940. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Lyons Jr.; father, Richard Fitzgerald; her stepfather, Henry Hunt; her daughter, Natalie Lyons; aunt, Rose Fitzgerald; and brother-in-law, Dennis Knight.
She was a former member of Royal Baptist Church, Petersburg. At the time of her death, she was a member of Third Baptist Church, Petersburg. She was an employee of Virginia State University. Due to declining health, she retired after 20 years of service.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Ruth Hunt; three daughters, Danette Pair (David), Joyce Malone (Clifford) and Penny Lyons (Donnell); three sons, Decarlos Smith, Russell McIver and Carlos Lyons; four brothers, James Hunt (Gertrude), Samuel Hunt (Sandra), Henry Lee Hunt and Claiborne Hunt; two sisters, Lillie Winfield (John) and Christine Haskins (Leroy); stepmother, Lelie Fitzgerald; stepbrother, Charles Nicholas Williams; nine grandchildren, Jasmine and Chermil McIver, Tenisha and Jaqueal Lyons, Ciara Watkins, Derrick Pair, Porsha Coleman, Tamika McIver, Tosheika and Deshawn Cunningham; 10 great grandchildren, Joe'Shaunda, Kae'Von, Brianna, Nivea, ZyKiarah, JaKayla, Taylor, Aron, Cameron and Daniya; a host of nieces, nephews and friends; aunt, Gertrude Fitzgerald; sisters-in-law, Berthina Chambliss, Manie Lancaster; Godson, Corey Lassiter; extended family, the family of the late Regina Hanks, Mr. and Mrs. OgBurn and son, GED, Mr. and Mrs. Elliott and son, Maxwell, Brook, Isiah, P.J., Daryl and Andrew.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Third Baptist Church, Petersburg with the Rev. Leroy Cherry officiating. Interment will be in Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery, Petersburg. The remains will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 11:45 a.m. until the hour of service. Relatives and friends will assemble at the residence, 3613 South St., Ettrick, at noon. To Family: I am sorry to hear of your loss but God will carry you through. It's hard but God heals the brokenhearted and bind up their wound. I remember all of the good times we had at your house and mines when we were growing up in Pecan Acres. I still have fond memories of her that I have never forgotten.

Words cannot express the pain that you all are in, know that god makes no mistakes and chose ms. leathy to be with him were theirs no more pain and no more suffering. he has a plan for ms. leathy which only involves her she knew that god was calling her but she just did not know how to express it to you all without leaving alot of pain, no that she is in a better place now watching over each and everyone of you. remember the good times and the sad times you all had with her know that she loves each and everyone of you,she might not had to say it but you all knew that she love you unconditionally.

Leathy was not just my nail client, but a very dear person to me. We have had lots of talks about everything. I always have look at her as a mother to me. I will truly,truly miss her. My heart hurts when I think about the fact that she is gone.I know she loved me and I loved her too.
