Edward Roe Obituary

Edward Madison (Eddie) Roe, 60, of Sutherland, passed on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his father, Command Sgt. Maj. Carl Madison Roe; a brother, Roger Gene Roe; and his stepfather, Francis (Dix) Howell. Eddie was a professional taxidermist, an avid sportsman and a member of numerous hunt clubs. He was very devoted to his family and his friends.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; one daughter, Brandy Roe Lipscomb and husband, Matthew, of Chesterfield, Va.; three grandchildren, Berkley (Berky) Madison Roe Lipscomb, Matthew (Teddy) Edward Roe Lipscomb and Hunter (Sweet Pea) Morgan Roe Lipscomb, all of Chesterfield; one goddaughter, Taylor Jane Witte of Mechanicsville; his mother, Helen Howell; his stepmother, Sina Steffany Roe of Dale City; five sisters, Brenda Meade and husband, Charlie, and Linda Bryant and husband, Robert, all of Chester, Sandy Smith of Virginia Beach, Carolyn Jones and husband, Mikie, of Colonial Heights, and Teresa Witte and husband, Chris, of Mechanicsville; four stepbrothers, Dr. Mac Howell and Steve Howell, both of Richmond. Va., Vili (Boo) Le'i and Aloa (Big Boo) Le'i, both of Dale City.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Dr. Ray Haskett officiating. Interment Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Va. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday (tonight) at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 17001 Jefferson Davis Highway, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
