Mary E. Harvell Tunstall

Mrs. Mary Tunstall, 85, of 5110 Downy Lane, Richmond, Va., formerly of 2401 Raleigh St., Hopewell, entered eternal life on Feb. 4, 2009, in her home surrounded by loved ones.

Mary was born Sept. 8, 1923, to the late Clarence and Sallie Harvell.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Solomon Tunstall; devoted daughter, Martha Tunstall Nick; and son, Milton Tunstall.

She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she attended until her failing health. Mary was a student at Carter G. Woodson School, class of 1942, and retired from the Hopewell school system with 40 years of service.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a daughter, Rosemary Bryant (Charlie) of Richmond, and son, Jeffrey Tunstall (Linda) of Hopewell; nine loving grandchildren, Karen Tunstall, Natalie Stokes (Donald), Quentin Henry, Darrell Jones, Charlie Bryant, Jr., Christopher Bryant, Amanda Bryant Morgan (Bryan), Jasmine Harris and Joyce Reese; nine great-grandchildren; devoted great-grandson Raymond Bryant; devoted nieces and nephews, Ruth White, of Dale City, Ronnie Foster, of Jacksonville, Fla., Curtis Foster, of Brooklyn, NY., and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A loving and devoted long life friend Mrs. Florine Jones, daughters and extended family, Mr. and Mrs. James Baskerville, children; Titus Williams, Stephanie Williams, Inakae Harris, Regina James and many more.

A memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at the Chapel of Turner-Bland Funeral Home, Hopewell. The Rev. William N. Bland Jr., pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church, will be officiating.
