Dwayne Thornton Obituary

Dwayne Aaron Thornton Sr., 32, formerly of Hopewell, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, in Harbor Hospital, Baltimore.

Dwayne was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #37, and a crane operator for Maxim Crane Works. He was preceded in death by his father, Nathan Carlye Thornton Sr.

Dwayne is survived by a son, Dwayne A. Thornton Jr.; two daughters, Erica M. Thornton, Ashly M. Thornton and the mother of his children, Wendy M. Thornton, all of Blackstone, Va.; his mother, Helen Dail Thornton-Anderson; stepfather, George Anderson, both of Crewe, Va.; a brother, Nathan C. Thornton Jr. and his wife, Dawnn, of Dinwiddie, Va.; a sister, Audrey T. Evitts and her husband, Charlie, of Chesterfield County, Va.; a stepbrother, Ronnie L. Anderson of Blackstone; four stepsisters, Edna Saul and her husband, Jimmy, of Chesterfield, Va.; Melody R. Shaw of Jetersville, Va.; Julie A. David and her husband, Steve, of Cumberland, Va., Dianna A. Siever and her husband, Aaron, of Shenandoah, Va.; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and a special friend, Karen Seger of Jessup, Md.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Joey Bohatec officiating. Interment will be in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George County. Condolences may be registered with www.jtmorriss.com.

Dear Helen & Family: I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Dwayne. I feel great sorrow and pain for you! May God's Presence be more real to you than you have ever experienced, and may you be comforted in the hope of the resurrection secured by our Savior, Jesus Christ.
