Dwayne A. Thornton Sr.

Dwayne Aaron Thornton Sr., 32, formerly of Hopewell, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, in Harbor Hospital, Baltimore.

Dwayne was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #37, and a crane operator for Maxim Crane Works. He was preceded in death by his father, Nathan Carlye Thornton Sr.

Dwayne is survived by a son, Dwayne A. Thornton Jr.; two daughters, Erica M. Thornton, Ashly M. Thornton and the mother of his children, Wendy M. Thornton, all of Blackstone, Va.; his mother, Helen Dail Thornton-Anderson; stepfather, George Anderson, both of Crewe, Va.; a brother, Nathan C. Thornton Jr. and his wife, Dawnn, of Dinwiddie, Va.; a sister, Audrey T. Evitts and her husband, Charlie, of Chesterfield County, Va.; a stepbrother, Ronnie L. Anderson of Blackstone; four stepsisters, Edna Saul and her husband, Jimmy, of Chesterfield, Va.; Melody R. Shaw of Jetersville, Va.; Julie A. David and her husband, Steve, of Cumberland, Va., Dianna A. Siever and her husband, Aaron, of Shenandoah, Va.; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and a special friend, Karen Seger of Jessup, Md.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Joey Bohatec officiating.
