Edmond Jackson Obituary

Mr. Edmond, "Droop Jackson" or "Uncle Scooby," Jackson, 62, of 3A South 8th Ave., Hopewell, departed this life Saturday, Feb. 7 at his residence.

He was the son of the late Frank and Nellie Jackson and was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Jackson retired from Gray Lumber Co. in Waverly.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories a devoted wife, Cherlie Jackson of Hopewell; three daughters, Tamika Jackson and Katanya Williams, both of Hopewell, and Tess Edelen (Joseph) of Newport News; two sons, Jamaro Jackson of Hopewell, and Keith Williams of Williamsburg; one stepson, Eric Williams of Prince George; 12 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren; two sisters, Elsie Mae Burrow of Colonial Heights and Geraldine Bolling of Hopewell; seven sisters-in-law, Margaret Vaughn, Janice Johnson (Nathaniel) of Waverly, Rosa Goodwyn, Mattilen Huges of Disputanta, Marie Williams of Hopewell, Geraldine Jackson, Hazel Jackson of Waverly; three brothers-in-law, Hermon Williams of Waverly, Sylvester Williams of Disputanta, and John Wyatt, of Waverly; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, among them a devoted nephew, Will Jackson of Richmond, and devoted friends, Willie Spencer and Herbert Taylor, both of Waverly.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009 from the Peace-Bland Funeral Home, Waverly. Elder Joseph Ellis will officiate. Interment will be held in Waverly Cemetery, Waverly.

The remains may be viewed Tuesday evening from 5 to 9 p.m. at Turner-Bland Funeral Home, Hopewell, and at 11 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at Peace Bland Funeral Home, Waverly. Family and friends attending the service may assemble at the Hopewell residence at 11:45 a.m.

Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Turner-Bland Funeral Home, Hopewell, The Rev. William N. Bland Jr., funeral director.
