William Canada Obituary

William Aaron Canada Jr., passed away peacefully at his residence in Church Road, Va., on Feb. 5, 2009.

He was born on April 10, 1920, in Halifax, Va., son of the late William Aaron Canada Sr. and Hassie Burton Canada.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Spencer Canada. Also, he is survived by a daughter, Linda C. Ramsey and husband, Clinton; a son, William L. Canada; surviving grandchildren are Belinda Ingram, Mary E. Wheelhouse and husband, Stuart, W. Clarke Canada and wife, Kara, Clara McCarty and husband, Mike, and Spencer L. Canada; surviving step-grandchildren are Lindsey Engels and Lauren Engels; surviving great-grandchildren are Ryan Ingram, Sarah E. Wheelhouse, Alex Wheelhouse and Dylan McCarty; and surviving step great-grandson, William Engels.

A private graveside service was held in the Southlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum on Feb. 7, 2009, with the Pastor Robert J. Rhoden of Commonwealth Chapel officiating. The family was served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Mr. Canada's family greatly appreciated the care and assistance given to them by Crater Community Hospice during the final weeks of his life.
