Barbara Yates Obituary
Barbara was an office manager for Dr. Roy Whitehouse in Blackstone.
She is survived by her husband, Dallas Yates; her daughters, Amanda K. Yates of Colonial Heights and Lindsey F. Yates of Blackstone; her mother, Patricia L. King of Colonial Heights; her father, Peter F. King and wife, Jane M., of Fort Valley; sisters, Lynn Edwards and husband, Dannie, of Colonial Heights, and Terry Koch of Annandale; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Colonial Heights Animal Shelter, 201 Temple Ave., Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.

Barbara was a new friend and I will miss her telling me how proud she was of her daughters. She loved her girls so much! She would also share stories of the animals she befriended. Barbara & I met for lunch just a couple of times and she introduced me to Basket Bingo here in Blackstone - I will hold dear the memories of her!

I don't know where to begin to say how saddened my heart is. Barbara has been my friend for many years and I pray that you will feel God's presence in this time. May God lift you up and carry you when you can't go on. Dallas, I introduced you to Barbara many years ago and I was there when your girls were born. Let me know if there is anything that I can do for you, if you just need to talk. I have some stories back before the girls were both born when I introduced Dallas and Barbara that I can tell the girls. I am sad that Barbara is gone and I will miss her.
