Joseph Williams Obituary
He was born on May 5, 1922 in Dinwiddie, Va. to the late Alfred and Julia McKensize Williams. He was employed with Greenleaf Dairy until his retirement. Mr. Williams was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church where he served on the usher ministry and trustee board until his health failed.
Mr. Williams was also preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth P. Williams; sons, Joseph E. Williams Sr. and Linwood Williams; brothers, Willie B. Williams and James Williams.
Mr. Williams is survived by his devoted daughter, Mary W. Young of Petersburg; very devoted nephew, Keith Baugh of Petersburg; grandchildren, Linwood M. Williams and Kisha Williams; three sisters, Emma W. Fells, Marie H. Baugh and Jessie W. Nelson, all of Petersburg; one brother, Alfred Williams Sr. (Delores) of Petersburg; five sisters-in-law, Mattie P. Bell, Fannie P. Hamilton, (MSG (Ret.) Raymond), Nannie P. Bonner, all of Petersburg, Catherine Parham of Ford, Va. and Rose Parham of Chesterfield, Va.; three brothers-in-law, Charles Parham of Petersburg, Edward Parham (Gloria) of Joilet, Ill. and Samuel Parham (Francis) of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, among them devoted and lifelong friends, Dr. and Mrs. Arnold A. Westbrook, Mrs. Rosa Stith, Mrs. Christina Baker and Jackie Smith.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 23, 2009 at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 2223 S. Crater Road, Petersburg with The Rev. Jeffrey L. Reaves Sr.. senior pastor, officiating. The interment will follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
