Raymond Kennedy Obituary

Raymond Kennedy, 79, of Chesterfield died on March 6, 2009 at Southside Regional Medical Center.

He was a native of Pink Hill, N.C., and retired from Southside Regional Medical Center after 35 years of service as supervisor of the Maintenance Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Claudie Kennedy; wife, Shelby Louise Kennedy; daughter, Shelby Ann Armstrong; sister, Mertie Whaley, Rovine Craft and Lizzie Mae Watson; brother, Linwood Kennedy and a son-in-law, Steven Vernaccini. Raymond is survived by his children, Angela Kaye Kennedy of Chesterfield, Va., Michael Kent Kennedy and wife, Doris of Stephens City, Va., Bonnie Jane Vernaccini of LeRoy, NY, Susan Katherine Grigsby and husband, Dave of Seven Springs, N.C., and Shelley Louise Saunders and husband, Rex of Prince George, Va.; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brothers, Herbert and Toney Ray Kennedy and sixteen nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 from 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
