Joyce Rakers Obituary
She was born in Prince George, Va., Nov. 4, 1937, to the late Joseph and Agnes Chudoba.
She is survived by her husband Arthur and daughter Diane Tausig, her husband, William and granddaughters, Abigail Frances and Elisabeth Joyce. She was preceded in death by her brother, G. James Chudoba and is survived by her brothers Joseph, his wife, Emily, and Bernard, his wife Dorothy and a sister-in-law, Jean.
Aunt Joyce was much loved by her many nephews and nieces. Joyce enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends, especially Mary Watson, Troy Buckley and Joann Houchins. Joyce was a volunteer with John Randolph Hospital Auxiliary, and made many a flower arrangement for the gift shop.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 pm on Monday, March 9, 2009, at the Church of the Sacred Heart, a wake service will follow at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at the church. In lieu of flowers, which she loved, remembrances can be made to the Building Fund, Church of the Sacred Heart, 9300 Community Lane, Petersburg, VA 23805 or Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23805. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service where condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
