Marshall Scott Obituary

In the month of June our hearts were saddened by the passing of our loved one, Mr. Marshall Edlow Scott.

Marshall Scott was born on Feb. 20, 1937, to Leroy and Gladys Scott.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Cora Walker; two brothers, Herman and Junius Scott; a sister-in-law, Mary Scott; and brother-in-law, Ernest Wynn.

He was a native of Sussex County, Va., and relocated to Petersburg, Va., where he lived for a number of years. At an early age Marshall gave his life to Christ at Little Mount Baptist Church. Marshall served in the United States Air Force and retired from Allied Signal.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted wife, Delores Scott; two daughters, Sandrea and Denise Scott, both of Petersburg, Va.; two sons, Lorenzo Scott of Petersburg, Va., and Kevin Wynn (Melinda) of Knightdale, N.C.; one sister, Malendia Lawrence (Jimmy) of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Lee Lawrence Scott of Petersburg, Va., and James Scott (Eva) of Washington, D.C.; two devoted nieces, Joyce Dabney and Audrey Scott, both of Petersburg; three devoted nephews, Frederick Wynn of Prince George, Va., Anthony Scott and Lee Wynn, both of Petersburg, Va.; seven grandchildren, Derrick, Martinez, Jaden, Janyah, all of Petersburg, Va., and Kiánna and Dorez Wynn, both of Knightdale, N.C., and Kayla Henson of Dinwiddie, Va.; sister-in-law, Mary Mason (Arby) of Prince George, Va.; brothers-in-law, Sherman Wynn of Petersburg, John Wynn (Roxann) of New Jersey, Raymond Wynn of Teaneck, N.J.; a host nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at noon Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at the chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va.; the Rev. Jeffrey L. Reaves Sr., senior pastor of Good Shepherd Baptist Church, Petersburg, officiating.

The family will assemble at 11 a.m. at 740 Harding St., Petersburg, the day of the service and may be contacted by calling (804) 733-2821.

The family requested that food items be omitted.
