Wayne Young Obituary

Wayne Lee Young, 68, of Chester, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2009, at McGuire V.A. Medical Center.

He was the son of the late James Preston and Hazel Wilkerson Young. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, Petersburg. Mr. Young was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War, and was the recipient of numerous medals to include the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Mr. Young was a graduate of the University of Richmond, and the University of Florida, "Go Gators!" He was a retired CPA.

He is survived by his wife, Judith C. Young; a daughter, Hannah Lee Young of Chester; an aunt, Mrs. Lois Biggs of Petersburg; also survived by several cousins, sisters and brothers in-laws.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009, in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, with the Rev. Joseph Lewis officiating. The procession will leave the funeral home at noon. His remains rest at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the ALS Association, 7507 Standish Place, Rockville, MD 20855. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
