Harvey Gay Obituary

Harvey Henry Gay Jr., 89, of Petersburg, passed away Monday, June 15, 2009, in Southside Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Gay was born in Emporia, and was the son of the late Nellie Moseley and Harvey H. Gay Sr. Harvey was self-employed and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by two nieces, Barbara Coleman and Elizabeth B. Procise.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2009, in Emporia Cemetery, Emporia, Va., with Rev. the Kenneth Hendricks officiating.

Arrangements being handled by the Nelsen Funeral Home, 214 N. 6th Ave., Hopewell, Va. Condolences may be registered at www.nelsencares.com.

I will miss Harvey.Have known him since the early 70's I used to work at Santitary restaurant and he was a customer we used to play the shuffleboard together.I went to work at Dixie restaurant in the 80's and he became a customer there.He always got 2 eggs over light, bacon and toast.I now work at Padows deli and he became a customer there,everyone at Padows thought a lot of Harvey we saw him about a month ago he came in and got a sandwich.All of us at Padows will miss him so much.
