Carolyn Brown Obituary

Ms. Carolyn A. Brown, 52, of Petersburg went to be with her heavenly father on Friday, June 19, 2009, when God called her home. She fought a long battle of sickness with faith and now she has finished her race.

Carolyn was born in Petersburg on Feb. 15, 1957, to the late James and Annie Brown. She graduated from Petersburg High School and was employed at Richmond Paper Co. and Manpower (Pre-Con). At an early age she accepted Christ. Carolyn was a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God In Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara Ann Brown; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy and Laura Harvell; a devoted friend, Natt Eric Reaves; and brother, James Terry.

She leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Kenneth Brown; two daughters, Katrina and Temisha Brown, all of Petersburg; one sister, Kathy Hall (Wilbert) of Richmond; two brothers, Jerome Brown of Petersburg and Leon Brown of Richmond; one sister-in-law (devoted), Corine Brown of Petersburg; four grandchildren, Deshone Taylor Brown, Kae'shene, Jalosia, JaCorey Jones Jr., all of Petersburg; two uncles, George Harvell of Newport News, devoted John Harvell of Chesterfield; four aunts, Marion Graves, Olivia Grant, devoted Doris Thompson, all of Petersburg, and Helen Harvell of Chesterfield; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, among them , devoted friends, Paulette Jones, Dora Chappell and Carolyn Taylor; a very devoted aide, Effie Greene, and the staff of MCV and Ms. Dee, her transportation driver.

The remains of Mrs. Brown may be viewed from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Waverly Funeral Establishment Petersburg Chapel, 356 S. Crater Road, Petersburg. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009, from Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God in Christ. The Rev. Jeffrey L. Dodson Sr., pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Dinwiddie Memorial Park. On the day of the service attending family and friends may assemble at noon at 314 S. West St., Petersburg.

Services are being provided to the Brown family by the staff and management of Waverly Funeral Establishment, the Rev. Jeffrey L. Dodson Sr., funeral director, (804) 732-2820.
