I am so sorry to have learned of Jean's death. I grew up with Jean in Durham many years ago & haven't seen her in quite a few years! One never forgets one's childhood!

Your mother, Jean, was my friend and mentor in durham. she, her mother, and her sister moved one door down from us on forestwood drive in 1954. she took me under her wing and i will never forget her. you were so lucky to have had her for a mother. i thank God that i was touched by her. my prayers are with you all. we all loved jean. she was the greatest is so many ways.....

Known Jean for years throught Christ & Grace Episcopal Church. A very caring and given person. She will be missed for her wit and charm. Christ & Grace Episcopal Church has lost a good church menber.

I was so hurt when i found out Mrs. Smith had passed, she was such a very caring and giving person, always willng to help out anybody she could. I remember her always being there for me and my mother, actually my whole family. we did alot of things together, parties, holloween, and not to mention al the baking we did together with her famous cheese straw. yes! the work she has done speaks for her. love you Jean, you will trulely be missed.
