Morris Spratley Obituary

Mr. Morris Q. Spratley, 22, of 1068 Sixth St., Petersburg departed this life Friday, July 3, 2009, in the Medical College of Virginia.

He was born in Petersburg on April 25, 1987, to Morris D. Carson and Charlene Renee Spratley. Morris attended Petersburg Public Schools and was employed as a production worker. He was an active and dedicated member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. Morris was preceded in death by his two grandmothers, Mary Spratley and Mary Carson, and his uncle, Jimmy Green, "Bubble."

He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Charlene Renee Spratley of Petersburg; his father, Morris D. Carson of Georgia; devoted stepfather, Milton Edwards; his loving fiancée, Sharonda Barrow "Boogie" of Petersburg; four brothers, Travis (Shaniqua) and Bernard Spratley and Van Robinson, all of Petersburg, and Montaze Brown of Georgia; three sisters, Kelly Spratley, Diketa Robinson and Archinette Washington, all of Petersburg; 12 aunts, Tawanda Lewis, Loretta Spratley, Lucille, Rosa and Debet Carson, Roselyn Lions, Alice and Cora Johnson, Barbara Rollins and Betty Mayfield, among them devoted, Gloria Spratley and Pamela Burch (Tyrone), all of Petersburg; seven uncles, Nelson, Ronnie, James and Albert Spratley, Jerome Covington and Chester Carson, among them devoted, Anthony Green (Jantaya), all of Petersburg; five nephews; three nieces; a host of cousins, among them devoted, Latisha and Kaytona Spratley, Shante, Deonte and Jerome Wells, Tywon and Leon Lyles, K'rongio and Kalreece Clanton and Cory Harris; a host of friends, among them devoted, Tomeshia Prince, Teinikei Clay, Carl Jackson, Darrell Fox, Calvin Brown, Rennie James, Robert and Antonio Prince.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2009, from Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God In Christ, 233 Halifax St., Petersburg. The Rev. Jeffrey L. Dodson Sr., pastor, will eulogize. Dr. Phillip Williams, pastor, Royal Baptist Church, 316 St. Mark St., Petersburg, will officiate. Interment will follow in Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery. The family will assemble noon at the residence on the day of the service. The remains will lie in repose at 11:45 a.m. at the church.

God will always be there when the phones calls, and the vistors stop. Always remember him first and give him all the praise. As time goes by no one can say it will get better, but there is one thing I can say to you and your family; He(Morris) was given to your family from God. Now it's his time to be with God.
