I first met Ellen in 1994 when I started dating David. Whenever David and I would visit his childhood home in Colonial Heights, Ellen would make sure there were fresh flowers, a smile and a great big hug to welcome me.
Ellen gave David and I some of the best advice of our early marriage. At the time we were living in what was "my house" and having a bumpy start to our marriage. Ellen said that we needed a home that was "our home" and that we shouldn't be living in a house that just belonged to me. We took her advice, sold my house and built our home and it made a world of difference to our marriage. Ellen was the closest thing I had to a mother-in-law and I felt blessed to have her love and council. She will be missed always.
