Rebecca Mayes Obituary

Rebecca Baugh Mayes, 90, of Petersburg, widow of Raymond Oswald Mayes, founders and operators of R. O. Mayes Grain Co., passed away Saturday, July 18, 2009.

Born in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Coker and Susan Bass Baugh.

Mrs. Mayes is survived by her sons, Syd Mayes and wife, Pam of Sutherland and Michael B. Mayes and wife, Susan of Dinwiddie; grandchildren, Amy Mayes, Philip Mayes and wife, Kristie, Jim Mayes and wife, Susan, Thomas Anderson, Pamela Goldsmith and husband, Kevin, Ashley Brobst and husband, Allen, Susan Meanor and husband, Todd, Sarah Mayes, and Mary Mayes; great-grandchildren, Mandy Arnette, Hunter Mayes, Corey Mayes, Evan Brobst, and Jordan Rebecca Mayes; sister, Genevieve Williams; and sister-in-law, Ellen Baugh.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 20, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Petersburg with The Rev. Michael Malone, former Rector, officiating. Interment will follow at Asbury Memorial Cemetery, McKenney. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church General Fund, P. O. Box 1187, Petersburg, VA 23804 or Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, P. O. Box 351, McKenney, VA 23875. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
