Anna Jones Obituary

On Aug. 4, 2009, our mother, sister and loved one, was called home to be with the Lord. She was a native of Chester, Va. Before relocating to Virginia, she lived in Washington, D.C., for 65 years. She was born to Warren and Ruth Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Jones, three sisters and three brothers.

Anna was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., until her health began to fail. She was a member of the Flower Club and worked faithfully in her church when she was able.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Wanda Hughes (Lewis) and Margo Reeves; three grandchildren, James Reeves (Tannesha), Lamar Hughes (Eleanor), Lewis Hughes Sr. (Lisa); one sister, Alice Butts (Richard); two brothers, Warren Jackson Jr. (Annie) and Walter Jackson, (Lavern); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at Liberty Baptist Church, Waverly, with Pastor Emeritus H. Joseph Franklin Sr., DD, officiating. Interment will be in Waverly Cemetery. The family will assemble at the residence 1:45 p.m. on the day of service.

Services are entrusted to Peace-Bland Funeral Home, Waverly, Va. James I. Gay, Funeral director.
