Frederick Henry Obituary

Formerly of Newburgh, NY

Frederick Henry, of Plattekill, NY, entered into rest on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. He was 71.

Son of Frank and Pauline Poffley, he was born on April 1, 1937 in Newburgh. He was married to Mary Scopteuolo Henry; who survives at home. Fred graduated from St. Patrick's School, Newburgh and proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1957-1961. He retired from IBM, East Fishkill after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Church of the Assumption, Maybrook, and the Town of Newburgh Stroke Club. He was a leader for Boy Scout Troop 27 and bow hunting instructor for the NYS Dept. of Conservation. He was also an avid golfer and outdoorsman.

In addition to his loving wife, Mary, he is survived by his loving sons, Christopher and his wife, Laura of Superior, CO, Jerry and his wife, Kimberly of Poughkeepsie, and David and his future wife, Anne Longo of Plattekill; grandchildren, Emily and Jason; sisters, Sandra Gabriel of Pawnee, IL and Paula Gliedman and her husband, Jeff of Plattekill; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, June 27, at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, at Assumption Church, Maybrook. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Montgomery.

Memorial contributions in Fred's name may be made to Church of the Assumption, 211 Homestead Ave., Maybrook, NY 12543.

Mary, I am truly sorry to hear of your loss. You and your family have my deepest sympathy. You had a lot of years with many, many happy memories that hopefully will help you get through all of the dark days to come, while you are all healing. God Bless.
