Aunt Wendy and cousins Abbey and Joe,

I am at a loss for words other than to say that Uncle Joe will be missed terribly. We didn't speak as often as we should have, but my day was always brightened after the times we did. Uncle Joe is truly one of my inspirations in how to relate to people and approach life.

May the love and peace of our Lord surround and comfort you,

Eric

Dear Wendy, Abbey, and Joseph,
Writing about our Joe is a joyful task, he was such a character. You heard the stories straight from him how as a child he and his adolescent buddies plotted and schemed to trick me, his clueless big sister, into aiding them in their adventures. I have so many good memories of him that bring a smile and a chuckle of laughter. Those memories help me now to ease the terrible pain of losing him.
Honest and loving, my brother Joe was an uncomplicated man quick to forgive a wrong and never hold a grudge. His smile, his laugh, his wisdom graced my life. Our big sister-little brother relationship grew to include a deep and rewarding friendship. There are so many things about Joe that I am going to miss, but most of all I'm going to miss him just being in my world. I know he is watching over us all and praying that we will remember him and work to love one another as he loved us. Bless you, Diane

Memories of My Brother

Joseph F. Gill

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Jerry, Joseph's oldest brother by 13 years. My siblings and I were part of the O'Leary grandchildren. My father Joe and mother Helen contributed 5, Aunt Francis & Uncle Pete contributed 9, Uncle Tom & Aunt Marie contributed 8. We lost our cousin Kathleen OLeary as a newborn & our cousin Sean Patrick Timpone as a young man in his 20's.

Our grandfather, Thomas O'Leary was delighted with us. On a cruise ship to Norway , he won the prize for the most grandchildren. Our Bestemor ( Grandmother in Norweigan) Torborg Lindefjell loved all of us but nevertheless was appalled that we were so many in number !

All of us from the 3 families, the Gill's, The Timpone's & the O'Leary's have wonderful memories of growing up with Joseph. All 3 homes were full of laughter & tears of lives added & lives lost.

For the Gill siblings, it is difficult to believe that for us the youngest has left our world first. Unfathomable.

Joseph lived his life with courage, determination, joy, friendship & love. If tears come, they will be tears of feeling the loss of his presence but not tears of sadness for his death - because we know he has gone to a better place & is waiting for us.

In the last year, Joseph was determined to live out his life with hope & with the love of his wife Wendy & his children Abbey & Joseph beside him. He told me many times how blessed he was & how much he loved Wendy & how lucky he was to have her & how very proud he was of Abbey & Joseph.

It was through his love, his generosity of spirit, his availability & his compassion that made him not just a good husband & father but a great husband & father.

All those traits transcended his immediate family & were the gifts he also gave to his siblings , to their families & to his friends.

Hopefully, we can be comforted by this in the presence of our painful loss.

For today & all the tomorrows to come, life wil go on -but - life will never be the same. As Robert Louis Stevenson so aptly said, " ... there falls along with him a whole wing of the palace of our life."

Joseph, we will miss you always !

God Bless Joe and his family on this great loss. I knew Joe growing up in Waldwick when we were early teenagers, as he was a true friend to the Ray Jimenez family whom I stayed with during the summer months. He was always a gentleman and a humble person, along with being a talented athlete . I always remember his smile and his determination...a true american spirit passed unto heaven.

Joe, You were the best, You were always there to support me and my team at FedEx. I could always rest easy knowing you were looking out for my operation at SWF, and always got the job done, no matter what the situation. You were put in a difficult situation as my acting manager, but shined with flying colors and never said no. You will be missed, as a husband, father and employee...B.Z Joe, You were the best....I am glad I had time to spend with you a few months ago....Till we meet again......G-Man

To the family of Joe Gill.
Just over 7 years ago, my little brother was diagnosed with A-L-L Leukemia, and every morning at the ramp Joe would always ask how my brother was doing. Three years later my brother was given a clean bill of health. Joe was so happy my brother got better.
When Joe got sick it crushed my heart. Why did this have to happen to a wonderful person, who is a great co-worker????
Joe's smile will live on in my heart forever.
Plesae know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Take care,
Kim & Harold Brown

Wendy, Abby and Joe... I do not need to tell you how many lives your husband/father touched in his short time with us. I first met you guys back in 1987 when both of us worked at Fedex in NJ. He ALWAYS spoke about his family and how lucky he was. Wendy, just seeing you and Joe walking Mugs and holding hands made a trip down Toleman Rd a little better every day! He truly was a friend, husband, and father that we all wish to become.
