Frank McGowan Obituary

Rockland County, NY

Frank P. McGowan died July 1, 2008 after a long illness at Hospice House, Palm Coast, FL.

He was born March 4, 1933 in Nyack, NY. He was raised and educated in Haverstraw, NY and attended St. Peter's Boys School and graduated from Haverstraw High School in 1950. He graduated from the American Academy of Mortuary Science Institute, New York City.

He served in the U.S. Army in the early 1950's in the Far East.

He was a Licensed Funeral Director and owner of three TJ McGowen Sons Funeral Homes in Rockland County, NY.

He was a life member of the Haverstraw Fire Department assigned to Lady Warren Hose Company #5, where he served as warden for the Fire Council and as secretary for many years.

He was a life member of the Elk's BPOE 877 of Haverstraw, NY. He was a member of the Leo Laders American Legion Post #2308, Thiells, NY. Also a member of The National Order of The Golden Rule Funeral Organization where membership was only by invitation and a Life Member of the NRA.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly A. McGowen; son, Sean Mathew and wife, Anda and their children, Alexandra and Jackson of New Milford, CT; son, Stephen Jude and wife, Tonia and their children, Morgan, Jack and Ellie of Stony Point, NY; brother, Richard McGowan and wife, Marie of Burnsville, MN; step-daughter, Cara Ann Buckley and husband, John and their children, Sean, Deirdre and Meg of Delmar, NY. He also leaves several nieces and nephews from New Britain, CT. Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Eleanor Mary (Rembisz) McGowan.

Visiting hours at Edward C. Finn Funeral Home, 43 East Main St., Stony Point, NY will be held on Tuesday, July 8 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at St. Peter's Church, 113 Broadway, Haverstraw, NY on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Entombment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter's Church.
