Patrick Doherty Obituary

Fort Montgomery, NY

Patrick D. Doherty, a 47 year area resident, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at his home. He was 65.

The son of the late Daniel Doherty and Mary Scollan Doherty, he was born on July 22, 1942 in New York City. He was a retired Trooper for the New York State Police Troop F in Nyack. He was also a member of the Retired Troopers of New York State and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Kane Doherty of Fort Montgomery; son, Lee Steinmetz and his wife, Patty of Fort Montgomery; daughter, Kelly Halvorsen and her husband, Bryan of Newburgh; brothers, Daniel Doherty of Carmel, James Doherty of Stormville, Thomas and John Doherty, both of Carolina Shores, NC; sisters, Margaret Gonzalez of N.Y.C. and Mary Failla of Campbell Hall; three grandchildren, Cortney, Amanda, and Lee; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Doherty.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 10, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Highland Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 11, at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Chapel, Route 9W, Fort Montgomery, with Rev. Jack Arlotta officiating. Interment will follow in Eagle Valley Cemetery in the Town of Highlands.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, Inc., 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.

Funeral arrangements were made by William F. Hogan Funeral Home, Highland Falls. 845-446-2868.
