Thomas McClure Obituary

Newburgh, NY

Thomas McClure, of Newburgh, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Cornwall Campus. He was 82.

Son of the late Thomas "Scoop" and Alice McGrady McClure, he was born on May 24, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY. He married Mary Lou Williams McClure on April 6, 1947 in Yonkers, NY; who survives at home.

Tom proudly served in the US Coast Guard from 1943-1946, as a Fireman - First Class on the USS Joseph T. Dickman. He retired from IBM after 35 years of service, and was a member of the Lud-Dale Boys Club in Yonkers, and the Orange Lake Fish & Game Club.

In addition to his loving wife, Mary Lou, he is survived by his loving children, Gerald McClure and his wife, Deborah, Gayle Beller and her husband, Richard, Patrick McClure and Thomas V. McClure; brother, Charles McClure and his wife, Jean; grandchildren, Heather, Bridgette, Maribeth, Kimberly, Janel, Erica, Michael, Angela, David and Daniel, and sister-in-law, Olga McClure.

He was predeceased by his brother, John McClure.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, July 11 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 12 at Our Lady of the Lake Chapel, Newburgh.

Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh.

Inurnment of cremains will be private and at the convenience of the family.
