Catherine Wagner Obituary

Gardiner/Wallkill, NY

Formerly of Pensacola, FL

Catherine Wagner died at her home on July 13, 2008 after a long battle with cancer. She was 68. She was surrounded by her family, whom she loved so very much. Retired from IBM with 25 years, she was a devoted wife and loving mother.

She was born in Jessup, GA, the daughter of James Alvin and Azalee O. Hurst Mayhair.

Catherine is survived by her husband of 53 years, Kenneth B. Wagner of Wallkill, NY, formerly of Gardiner, NY; her three children: Sherrie Snider and her husband, Richard of New Paltz, Kurt B. Wagner and his companion, Nancy of Wallkill, Crystal Shipman and her husband, Bryan of Yorktown, VA; four grandchildren: Gretchen, Kurt and Meghan Wagner of Gardiner, and Gavin Shipman of Yorktown, VA; one great-grandchild, Tyler Bradley of Gardiner; her sister, Irene Doyle and her husband, Harlon of Lobelville, TN; three brothers: Lloyd Mayhair and his wife, Delita of Cantonment, FL, Charles Mayhair and his wife, Kitty and John Edward Mayhair of Pensacola, FL; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Catherine is predeceased by two brothers, Raymond Mayhair of Pensacola, FL, and Glen Mayhair of Milton, FL.

In keeping with Catherine's wishes, her ashes will be laid to rest next to her mother and father and Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Pensacola, FL.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 16, at 8:30 p.m. at Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 So. Putt Corners Rd., New Paltz, NY.

Friends and relatives may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, Inc., 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.

We are so sorry for your loss. Catherine was and still is a wonderful and very brave person for all that she has been through. For the short 3 weeks that we spent with her in the hospital since my Mom, Mary Rea was next to Catherine we got to be very close. She will always be in our hearts. we give our condolences to Ken & family.
