Elizabeth Seifert Obituary

Formerly of Newburgh, NY

Elizabeth Schwartz Seifert, 97, died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Rosewood Heights, Syracuse.

She was born in Oswego on February 20, 1911 to the late William and Winifred Mitchell.

During World War II, she was a telephone operator at West Point under the Signal Corps. For many years she lived in Newburgh, NY before moving to Syracuse and then for over 30 years she lived in Mattydale.

Predeceasing her are her husbands, Herman Schwartz in 1959 and William Seifert in 1986; her brothers, Thomas and Edward Mitchell; her sister, Beatrice Tracey and granddaughter, Linda. A beloved Mother and Grandmother, she is survived by her daughter, Mary (Joseph) Perdicho of Seneca Falls; a son, William (Evelyn) Schwartz of Liverpool; a sister-in-law, Marion Deveraux; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and close friends, Bob and Diana Ashwood.

At our mother's request, services and burial in North Syracuse Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Donations may be made, in lieu of flowers, to a favorite charity.

Evelyn, Woody and Family. Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of Dear Betty. On her visits to P&C, she always left on a humorus note with that "Cheshire Cat" smile!
That is how I will remember her.
