Sophie Ferguson Obituary

Middletown, NY

Sophie H. Ferguson of Middletown, died on Monday, July 28, 2008 at St. Teresa's Nursing Home, Middletown, NY. She was 85.

She was born on May 2, 1923 in New York, NY. She worked as a bank teller for Manufacturer's Hanover Trust in New York City for over 35 years.

A family statement reads, "She was a good friend to whomever she came in touch with. She loved babies and animals. We will remember her as always having a smile on her face".

Sophie is survived by her son, John and his wife, Cindy of Middletown and five grandchildren, Melissa, Kristine, John, Adam and Brandon; two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Hayleigh; sister-in-law and longtime friend, Dorothy Jacobs, and her two special friends, Marylou Dalessandro and Anne Dempsey. She was predeceased by her brother, Chris Jacobs.

Visitation hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. this evening at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown.

A Funeral Service in Remembrance will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, Fr. Chris Talleos will officiate.

Cremation will be private.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Teresa's Nursing Home for the love and care they provided for Sophie in the past few months.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Goshen Humane Society, 44 Police Drive, Goshen, NY 10924.
