George Silverman Obituary

Newburgh, NY

George Silverman, a lifetime area resident and founder of George Silverman Associates Architects in Newburgh, entered into rest on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. He was 83.

Son of the late Jack and Gussie Silverman, he was born on June 14, 1925 in Peekskill, NY. He married Maria Ricciotti Silverman in 1978, who survives at home.

"George will be both well remembered and tremendously missed by all who knew and were touched by him. He served in WW II as part of the Army Corp. of Engineers in the European Theater under General Patton. George was a well respected, local area architect over the past 40 years. Many of his proudest projects included work for the Newburgh School System. His family and friends will remember him for his generosity, patience, kindness, warmth and love for life. May he rest in peace."

George was a graduate of Cornwall-on-Hudson High School and graduated from Rensselier Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Architecture. He was also a member of the Powelton Club.

In addition to his loving wife of 30 years, Maria, he is survived by his sons, Dr. Glenn Silverman of DelMar, CA, Keith Silverman of New Brunswick, NJ, and Todd Silverman of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY; daughters, Dr. Michele Fallon Travers of Dublin, Ireland and Linda Fallon Powell of Phoenix, AZ; former wife, Edith Silverman; grandchildren, Amy, Drew, Aaron and Aviana Silverman, Jordan and Logan Powell, Veronica and Devanie Travers; brother, Eli Silverman of Northport, Long Island; nieces, Jamie and Lisa; loving caretaker Peter; and close personal friend, Brenda Uhl. George was predeceased by his business partner, Jack Flemming.
