Donald Kelly Obituary

Newburgh, NY

Donald Kelly, a native of Newburgh and graduate of the Newburgh Free Academy (Class of 1969) passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 in Austin, TX. His loving wife, Jan, was by his side. Don was the son of the late Geraldine Kelly Cohen of Newburgh.

During the last year and a half, Don fought a courageous battle against cancer, never letting the disease conquer his spirit, his love of life, nor his appreciation for the beauty of the world around him.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 20 years, Jan Harris Kelly: his brother, James Kelly; and sister-in-law, Judith Kelly, both of State College, PA, many extended family members in the Newburgh area, as well as the whole Harris clan who considered him one of their own. He was also an amazing, unforgettable uncle to his niece, Maurie Caitlin Kelly and nephew, Christopher Sean Kelly; and a treasured friend to many people across the country from Newburgh to Los Angeles to Elgin, TX.

Don's wishes were to remember him and celebrate him as he was in life. His sense of humor, laughter and amazing smile brought joy into the lives of everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
