Brenda Morrison Obituary

Newburgh, NY

On Saturday, August 9, 2008 Brenda Ann Morrison a lifelong area resident, entered into rest at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh, NY. She was 58 years old.

Brenda was born on August 11, 1949 to the late Harold and Mildred Mitchell DeGroat in Port Jervis. Brenda attended local schools, graduating from Newburgh Free Academy in 1968. She was employed by Holden Home in Newburgh until her retirement.

She leaves to cherish her memory four children: Michelle Hayes of Wappingers Falls, NY, Dion Hayes of Schenectady, NY, Cleon Hayes and wife, Ida of Newburgh, NY, and Nicole Hayes of Newburgh, NY; five sisters: Mary Lucien (Betty) of Poughkeepsie, NY, Doris St. Jean (Benedict) of Lakeland, FL, Lenore Clarey (Gration) of Wallkill, NY, Pearl Bryan (Nelson) of Lakeland, FL and twin, Bernice Haze of Newburgh, NY; one brother, Robert Jones of Queens, NY; 14 grandchildren: Sean, Cochise, Cleon, Capri, Danashia, Tylishia, Terane', Rashad, Shanice, Ja'quan, De'ja, Jahaire, Premier, and Sincere; two great-grandchildren, Maniyah and Danielle, whom will all miss their "Sugar Mama"; a pet grandson, Kobe, whom she called regularly just to say, "I love you"; the Hayer Family; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends. She is predeceased by grandson, Juwan Hayes; three sisters: Lorraine Jones, Blanche DeGroat-Burgess and Carol DeGroat; three brothers: Wilbert and Lawrence Jones and Harold DeGroat; special family members, Leo and Gladys Greer and Kathryn Robinson.

A Memorial viewing will be held at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, NY 12550 on Saturday, August 16, from 9-11 a.m.
