Katherine Atkins Obituary

Middletown, NY

Katherine H. Atkins, of Middletown, formerly of Damascus and Milford, PA, died Friday, August 8, 2008 at her daughter's residence. She was 80.

Born in Newburgh, NY on April 14, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Maria Trzukot Piekarz. She was the widow of Eber B. Atkins, Jr.

She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy, then served in the U.S. Army during Korean War. She was a loving wife, mother sister, aunt, grandma, granny and friend. After a long and tiring battle with health issues, she is now at peace with her family and loved ones.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate and dignified care given by the nurses, Dr. Robert Dinsmore and staff of Hospice of Orange County, NY. A special thanks to Suzanne Holladay, her dedicated Aide for several years, who became a loved member of our family.

She is survived by her two daughters Gwendolyn McNally, wife of Kevin of Middletown and Karen Spangenberg, wife of John of Round Rock, TX; sister, Anna Lawless; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her six brothers, Charlie, Al, Frank, Edward, John, Stephen and sister, Agnes Siebach.

Services will be private at the family's convenience.

Katherine's family has requested donations be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan County, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.

Arrangements are under the guidance of Morse Funeral Home, Inc., Middletown, NY.

To the family and friends,

I am truly sorry for your loss. I too have loss someone dear to me. What brings me a measure of comfort is reading the scriptures. I hope that it will bring you some comfort as well. Isaiah 25:8...he will actually swallow up death forever...
