Christine Gundersen Obituary

New Paltz, NY

Christine Gundersen, age 86, of New Paltz died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie.

Mrs. Gundersen was born on May 16, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY. She was the daughter of the late Marcellius and the late Didrikke (Nielsen) Hansen. She married Golman Gundersen on February 9, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY.

Mrs. Gundersen was a communicant of Reedemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Paltz, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Staten Island, NY, an avid bowler for many years, and a member of the 'Golden Girls. For her 80th Birthday she received a trip to her home country of Norway which was given to her by her children.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter, Kenneth and his wife, Agnes Gundersen of Staten Island, NY, Gary and his wife, Bonnie Gundersen of Raleigh, NC, and Barbara and her husband, Ernest Kilpatrick of Downsville, NY; one brother, Magnus Hansen of Cheshire, CT; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased in 1985 by her brother, Ingvold Hansen.

Friends and relatives may call on Thursday, August 21, from 5-8 p.m. at Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Rd., New Paltz, NY.

The Funeral Service will be Friday, August 22, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at New Paltz Rural Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Route 32 South, New Paltz, NY 12561.
