Mary Chomyn Obituary
Mary Sas Chomyn of Sun City, AZ, formerly of Newburgh, NY, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at Hospice of the Valley, Sun City, AZ. She was 83.
The daughter of the late John and Mary Dzuba Sas, she was born September 21, 1924 in Irvona, PA. Mary was the widow of John L. Chomyn, Sr. who passed away in 1989.
Mary was very active in the Golden Age Senior Citizens in Newburgh, NY and received an RSVP commendation from Orange County for 25 years of service. She was also a member of "The Doolittles", a social club, and a frequent volunteer at Sylcox Nursing Home and Arden Hill Hospital.
A family statement declares: "Mom was always there for everyone who needed her. She will always be in our hearts and prayers."
Survivors include her sister, Catherine (Kada) Kozak of Parma, OH; her son, John L. Chomyn and his wife, Christine; grandsons, Derek and Andrew Chomyn of Newburgh, NY; her daughter, Christine DiMauro and her husband, Jerry of Sun City, AZ; granddaughter, Charis Keller and her husband, Chris, great-grandchildren, Garred and Jamie Keller of Peoria, AZ; her daughter, Ann Vonderhyde and her husband, Leo of Dingmans Ferry, PA; grandson, John Killeen of Marcy, NY; granddaughter, Anastasia Baldassari and her husband, Ricardo, great-grandchildren, Ricky and Tatyanna Baldassari of Dingmans Ferry, PA, and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. Her burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of any flowers, donations in Mary's name may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 10323 West Olive Ave., Peoria, AZ 85345; www.HospiceoftheValley.org - or to a charity of one's choice.

Ann, Chris and John we are sorry to hear of your loss and you are in our prayers. My mother just passed as well on August 22. It is conforting to know they are together again in Heaven.

I will always remember Mrs. Chomyn as a very pretty and sweet lady. I am so sorry for your loss. I miss my parents each and every day and I know you will too. My love to Ann, Chris, and John.
