Gary Freitag Obituary
Gary Allen Freitag, 60 years old of Summerville, SC, formerly of Waldwick, NJ on Saturday, August 9, 2008.
Beloved son of Ann and the late Roy A. Freitag of Waldwick, NJ. He was the husband of Marion Freitag of Warwick, NY, loving father of Derek Freitag of N.Y.C. and Adam Freitag of Summerville, SC, dear brother of Kenneth Freitag of Warwick, NY and Nancy Carlson and her husband, Christopher of Highland Lakes, NJ.
Gary graduated from Waldwick High School in 1967 and joined the U.S. Army in 1968. He served in Vietnam where he received numerous commendations including a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Gary was in the construction field as a Master Craftsman and a Finishing Carpenter. He was a member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars as well as The American Legion. Gary was an avid golfer and fisherman. He served as a volunteer firefighter for over 15 years. He also was a Little League Coach for both of his sons.
Respects can be made at the Roy A. Freitag Memorial Post 1049 VFW (across from the train station in Waldwick) on Wednesday evening, September 3, from 6-9 p.m.
A Religious and Military Service will be held at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Wrightstown, NJ on Thursday, September 4, at 10 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations in memory of Gary be made to the Roy A. Freitag Memorial Post 1049 Veterans of Foreign Wars, PO BOX 215, Waldwick, NJ 07463.
