George Hendrickson Obituary

Highland Falls, NY

George "Pete" Hendrickson, a lifelong area resident, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. He was 81.

The son of the late Ethel Hendrickson, he was born January 3, 1927 in Highland Falls.

He was the retired owner of Pete's Home Repairs in Highland Falls and was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II. Pete was an honorary member of the Highland Falls Fire Department; a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program; a former member of the Village of Highland Falls Planning Board; and a former member and Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals for the Village of Highland Falls.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jane A. Borger Hendrickson of Highland Falls; son, Peter Hendrickson and his wife, Janet of Columbia, Connecticut; daughter, Susie Hall and her husband, Dick of Highland Falls; four grandchildren: Kenneth & Kelly Hall and Seth & Alden Hendrickson; nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, J.J.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 6, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with Pastor Scharlise Dorsey officiating. Interment will follow in Eagle Valley Cemetery in the Town of Highlands.

Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Falls Fire Department, 9 Mountain Ave., Highland Falls, NY 10928 or Town of Highlands Ambulance Corps, 37 Main St., Highland Falls, NY 10928.

EACH TIME I GET A CHANCE TO GO BACK HOME TO KLEITZ I LOOK UP TO THE TOP OF HILLSIDE AND RECALL THAT GREEN AND WHITE TRUCK COMING DOWN THE HILL TO START THE WORK DAY SOMEWHERE IN TOWN.
