Kim Covington Obituary

Liberty, NY

Kim Roxanne Covington, entered into rest on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY.

On September 9, 1961 at Wyckoff Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, Kim was born to Martha and Cleveland Jones. She would be the last of 12 children. As the baby of the family, "Kimmy" was the apple of everyone's eye. She attended public schools in Brooklyn and Queens and was always an outstanding student. She also attended LaGuardia Community College in Queens, NY.

In 1992, Kim met Anthony Covington. The two were inseparable from the moment they met, and were married on September 3, 1993. Their union produced two beautiful children, Anthony Jr., the Little League legend, born in 1994, and Selena, the pretty ballerina, born in 2001. Kim adored her children and always made sure they had the best of everything.

Through her life and her work, she exemplified what it means to live fully and live well. Kim lived and worked in upstate NY since the early 90's. She loved her job as Assistant Clinical Director for Daytop Village Inc., a therapeutic community in Parksville, NY. At Daytop, Kim was loved and respected by all who knew her. Residents and colleagues alike have fond memories of her, including her fabulous shoes and handbags!

She is survived by her husband, Anthony Covington; her children, Anthony Jr. and Selena; her sisters, Sherry, Barbara and Patricia; her brothers: Charles, Ronald, George, William and Cleveland; her in-laws, Franklin and Brenda Wofford, Kelly Wofford, Andrew Wofford and Geary Williams, as well as seven nieces and eight nephews, and all their children. Kim was preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister, Rose and her brothers, Jack and Jimmy.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all our friends and especially to Valerie Wyatt, a dear friend who has provided love and support during Kim's prolonged illness.

Visitation will be Friday, September 5, from 7-9 p.m. in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 6 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Norman Graves officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery, Cold Spring Rd., Liberty, NY.
